MPI Chapter 2026 in Carbonia: 35th Annual Convention for the world of Tourism (2nd day)

From 26 to 28 June 2026 Carbonia hosts the 35th Annual Convention of MPI Italia Chapter, an important event for the world of the meeting industry, conference tourism and events. Organized by the Municipality of Carbonia in collaboration with MPI Italia Chapter, the convention will bring sector professionals, institutional representatives, tourist operators, foreign buyers and international speakers to the heart of Sulcis, transforming the city into a place for meeting, discussion and relationships on a national and international scale.

The theme chosen for this edition, “From Underground to Global Sea Routes: Gateway to the Sulcis”, effectively expresses the vision of a territory that starts from its mining identity to open up to new connections, new routes and new development opportunities. Carbonia and Sulcis Iglesiente thus present themselves as a destination capable of combining industrial memory, landscape, hospitality, sustainability and innovation, offering an authentic and distinctive proposal in the panorama of events and professional tourism.

Over the course of the three days, the convention will provide space for moments of training, networking and discovery of the area, with a program designed to enhance the dialogue between different skills, experiences and perspectives. Great attention will also be paid to the story of Sulcis Iglesiente, from the mining history to the symbolic places of its transformation, such as the Great Mine of Serbariu and Porto Flavia, in a journey that focuses on the cultural and strategic value of this part of Sardinia.
The presence of destinations and operators from different countries confirms the international vocation of the event and represents an important opportunity for visibility and positioning for Carbonia. The 35th Annual Convention of MPI Italia Chapter is in fact proposed as an event capable of strengthening the link between local identity and global openness, helping to promote Carbonia and Sulcis Iglesiente as a reference destination for conference tourism, events and new international relations.
