Feast of the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows – Rosmarino District

From 12 to 15 September, starting from 8.30pm, the lively Rosmarino di Carbonia neighborhood is dressed in lights and devotion for the traditional Feast of the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows: four evenings that intertwine spirituality, folklore and authentic flavors of Sulcis.
Every evening the small local church will welcome the meditated rosary and the solemn mass with sacred songs; afterwards, the procession with the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows travels along the streets decorated with myrtle arches and lights, accompanied by the drumming, traditional costumes and the scent of incense that envelops the procession.
Once the rites are over, the central square is transformed into a party square:

Food stands – Campidanese malloreddus, sheep in coat, hot seadas and almond desserts.
Live music – folk groups, accordion and launeddas alternating with pop cover bands and DJ sets that make tourists and residents dance until late at night.
Artisan market – filigree, basketry, ceramics and typical local products.
Children’s area with inflatable rides and artistic bread making workshop.

The evening of September 15th, the culmination of the liturgical celebration, ends with the concert of sacred music and the pyro-musical show that lights up the sky of Rosmarino, reflecting the fires on the rationalist facades of Carbonia.
